You Were Planned For God’s Pleasure

Introduction

POGS Camp is happening now. Years ago I attended another youth weekend and badly injured my ankle. The consequence of which was that I forgot how to walk. Happily with the help of physiotherapy I learnt to do so again.

We can forget even those things with which are most familiar, and so over five Sunday mornings we shall be revisiting our Church’s core values.

The first one, being worship.

·                God wants you to be here

Psalm 139.13, John 15.16.

In Church, in this world. He planned your being here.

He has redeemed you.

A lady I know had a valuable musical instrument stolen. She went to the police and hunted everywhere for it. Eventually found it in a shop and bought it back. Jesus did that for us, he bought back our lives from the penalty of sin.

·                God has great plans for you

Mark 12.28-31, Matt 28.19

Love God, and loving our neighbour, will include making disciples. You were planned for God’s pleasure he wants to use you.

·                God wants to be seen in you

Psalm 34.3, Roms 12.1-2.

In worship – we magnify God  – that is, help God to be seen

Space telescopes, glasses, microscopes, binoculars – not only make things appear larger but increase visibility.

 With your body – I Cor 6, Roms 12,

In all situations including work home leaisure etc.

Worship – Anglo Saxon word for honour. In OT the word used for act of worship and service almost synonymous.

Big Danger of separating the sacred and the secular. God’s in both.

You were planned in love, to be loved and to love.

When we born, God’s desire was that we experienced love straight away from our parents from there love can be experienced and shared.

God has always loved us and whether are parents have been good models or otherwise  God wants us to be loved and to love others.

Lauriel advert – Because you’re worth it!

God’s worth it, and so are you.
